Recording Sessions

The NEW GEAR

Well, everything is up and running smoooooth!  We really needed to upgrade a few things and working on this new Digi 003 rig with all these plug ins and the liquid mix does sound amazing.  The antares autotune does some cool stuff too.
We had a heck of a time with a few problems early on as we were putting the system together.  It was difficult to get ahold of tech support at a number of the companies, Digidesign and Focusrite to name a few.  We had to wait from a phone call from England before we could finally get the Liquid Mix to work, but man does it work!
We've been busy with a number of projects here at the studios, tracking sessions, overdubs, vocals, you name it.  We have a live video shoot and audio recording coming up this weekend on Saturday with a band called Big Stick Friday.  We have had Reverse Affect in the studio still doing overdubs and vocals.  The Primitive Painters are still working on finishing their project--adding some steel guitar to their tracks.  Have an upcoming tracking session with a band called Scorch the Earth, as well as a rehearsal recording in a few weeks with a band called Big Noise.  Had the band Driffan in a couple weekends ago for a rehearsal recording.
Keep em' coming!

Bellflower Unified School District's Advanced Choir...

Bellflower Unified School District's Advanced Choir took a field trip to come to our studios and record songs and shoot video for their upcoming DVD.  We welcomed 50 students ages 10-12 to our Showcase Room.  The production crew put up choir risers on our stage to accomodate all of the kids.  They used three cameras to shoot the video, and we put up two room mics to capture the voices of all the kids.  In the second room that adjoins the Showcase Room we set up an additional vocal mic for the soloists.  In between the takes of the choir, the soloists would come into the second room to be filmed as well as have the audio recorded for their parts.  It was a fun experience as well as a bit of hard work for the kids being in the studio.  They had to perform well and do it without wasting alot of time.  All the kids did an outstanding job and it was our pleasure to have them here!

Reverse Affect Records with us here...

The Band Reverse Affect has chosen to record with me here at Bomb Shelter Recording Studios.  They are the first band to do a multitrack project in our Showcase Room.  Here's a picture as we got the drums set up and mic'd.  The drums do sound amazing in the big room!  Thanks guys.  We'll be posting some more pictures along the way.

Upcoming Sessions...

We have lots going on, in fact so many things I don't even know where to start!  Recording album projects for several bands, rehearsal recordings, mixing and editing for several different people, programming and arranging for my yearly UCI gigs, purchasing a bunch of new recording equipment, helping Britt out with things for the rehearsal studios,  recording live audio for a video shoot, where does it end?!  I usually try to take Sundays off, but that hasn't happened either.  As soon as I come up for air I'll update this blog and give some dirt on who's been doing what here.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the studios,
James
